Abstract

The potential of geothermal areas lies in the area of volcanic formation and manifestations in the form of hot water are indicators of geothermal potential. One of the areas that hold considerable geothermal potential is the Mount Geureudong area.  The purpose of the study is to identify, and determine the recommended areas and sustainable development goals of potential exploration plans in the Mount Geureudong area.  Research Using remote sensing techniques. In Landsat 8 processing, thermal channels can be used so that the results show surface spectral characteristics, temperature anomalies, and several parameters that can indicate the presence of geothermal potential. Land classification, land height, and environmental conditions utilize geographic information systems. Mount Geureudong in Central Aceh Regency is thought to have considerable geothermal potential. The magnitude of the geothermal potential is analyzed in a geographic information system so that it can determine the location of the construction of the Geothermal Power Plant in the appropriate area. As well as, having a distance between the calculation of exploration activities and the surrounding settlements. Based on the results of Land Surface Temperature, show the potential for Geothermal Power Plants to be built in Pintu Rime Gayo, and Wih Pesam Districts. Because it is traversed also by a fault.
